Bonsai (盆栽) is a Japanese art form using trees grown in containers. Similar practices exist in other cultures, including the Chinese tradition of penjing from which the art originated, and the miniature living landscapes of Vietnamese hòn non bộ. The Japanese tradition dates back over a thousand years.
I always wanted to create special experience for Mediterranean Bonsai viewers, so my videos are filmed in wild nature!

Wild Olive Landscape Bonsai on a Natural Rock Pot | Update With a Wooden Trolley | Olive Tree Bonsai
In today's episode of Mediterranean Bonsai we do an update of the wild olive tree landscape on a natural rock pot by place it on a handmade wooden trolley. The wild olive Landscape bonsai inspired from Lesvos island olive grove in Greece.
About Lesvos island:
A wonderful walking, bird-watching and yamadori hunting destination in the Mediterranean, Lesvos offers a stunning combination of natural and man-made landscapes to enjoy on foot or by car. It is a treasure house of very early ancient remains dating from the 7th century BC and boasts one of the finest natural monuments in Europe, the Petrified Forest, created 20 million years ago.
Cloaked with forests of chestnut and oak, the island becomes a riot of flowers in the spring and is renowned for its wild orchids (as many as 65 species) and with its own special endemic, Ophrys lesbis.
The island’s hills and mountains are riddled with little known ancient trails and cobbled donkey paths, many of which form the walks featured in this new guidebook. Refreshingly free of high-rise hotels and beach-orientated tourism, Lesvos is seizing an opportunity to rediscover itself through ecotourism in its totally unspoilt countryside. Fascinating sites, often unprotected, allow you to do your own interpretation. Follow the authors’ footsteps into villages still steeped in an old way of life and into a countryside as beautiful as any in the Mediterranean. The car tours, too, show off the very best the island has to offer and will take you to some secret places they have discovered.
About Olive Tree:
Olea is a genus of about 20 species in the family Oleaceae, native to warm temperate and tropical regions of southern Europe, Africa, southern Asia and Australasia. They are evergreen trees and shrubs, with small, opposite, entire leaves. The fruit is called a drupe. There are literally hundreds of cultivars of olive tree. Much like apples, trees with different fruit characteristics have been developed over hundreds of years. The species is very variable and no two tree ever seem to be quite the same.
Olea sylvestris, the wild-olive, has been considered by various botanists a valid species and a subspecies of the cultivated olive tree, Olea europea, which is a tree of multiple origins that was domesticated, it now appears, at various places during the fourth and third millennia BCE, in selections drawn from varying local populations. The wild-olive (Ancient Greek kotinos), which ancient Greeks distinguished from the cultivated olive tree, was used to fashion the olive wreath awarded victors at the ancient Olympic games. The ancient and sacred wild-olive tree of Olympia stood near the Temple of Zeus, patron of the games.

I've been attempting Bonsai for over sixty years...Oaks are not easy...they resent being moved improperly... They need perfect drainage...This is a wonderful did...I'd like to see this oak five years later... Thank you!!
This is gorgeous! Amazingly beautiful! I love it! In Catalonia where I am from there are little dry stone huts in those olive grooves. And I have a question: it seemed to me you used common organic soil instead one of those fancy bonsai substrates, is there a reason?
